Our overall approach to insulation removal is not only unique, but highly recommended. With attic insulation removal in GTA, Pro Home Insulation (A Division of Canada Green Insulation Inc.) begins with an in-depth inspection of the space. This allows for an accurate assessment of conditions, including the existing insulation as well as the physical structure. At this stage, our experienced team will determine if insulation removal is required, or if a “topping up” approach will suffice. Beyond insulation, we inspect for air leakage and energy efficiency, where additional retrofitting (air sealing and mechanical ventilation) may be required.
With attic insulation removal, a professional approach to removal and re-installation is preferred. The experts have the right equipment and expertise. Removing insulation can be risky and dangerous, particularly if the existing insulation materials are contaminated. Even worse, there could be residual asbestos or other substances.
For the most part, it’s unwise to simply remove old insulation and replace with new materials. Before installing new insulation, Pro Home Insulation (A Division of Canada Green Insulation Inc.) will recommend repairs and/or retrofits that may be necessary. For example, most residential attics need to improve airtightness throughout the installation space. More than anything, this will ensure better overall insulation performance.
Attic restoration is usually needed following the removal of a wild animal from your home. Pro Home Insulation (A Division of Canada Green Insulation Inc.), will provide expert attic restoration services that help get your attic back to it’s original state or better – fully restored and contamination free.

Due to the rapid changing temperatures across Canada, mold in the attic has become more and more common. When temperatures fluctuate, condensation buildup will occur in the attic which can then lead to mold growth. Mold needs an organic substance that is wet to grow on, which is exactly what condensation in the attic provides.
Attic conditions such as humidity, wood sheeting, and often a lack of sufficient air flow, provide a comfortable environment for mold to grow.
Materials Sampling and Mold testing by certified Lab is done by, Pro Home Insulation (A Division of Canada Green Insulation Inc.), after removal and Mold treatment to make sure no active mold is present after remediation is done however the first step is to identify the source of the mold.
Possible causes of mold in the attic are:
Unfortunately you don’t have much of a choice when it comes to removing mold from attics. It is intense physical labor that requires knowledge of established mold remediation standards and protocols to ensure safety and efficacy.
The procedure for cleaning mold will also depend on a number of factors such as the size and layout of your attic as well as the level of contamination. At Pro Home Insulation (A Division of Canada Green Insulation Inc.), will provide you with a scope of work before we begin the remediation.
Procedure of professional attic mold removal
Professional attic mold removal is a systematic process that can be broken down into several steps:
Vermiculite was regularly used for attic insulation until the 1970s. In some cases, the vermiculite was found to contain asbestos due to a contaminated vermiculite mine. Vermiculite testing may be important to you and your family for peace of mind.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral with excellent heat insulation, electrical insulation and fire retardant properties.
However, it is toxic. For the health and safety of your family and colleagues, you should remove all sources of these fibers from your home or workplace.
Air Sampling - Indoor air sampling and analysis will indicate if you have an asbestos problem and its severity.
Materials Sampling - Although not easy to identify, Pro Home Insulation (A Division of Canada Green Insulation Inc.), will find the source of airborne fibers and confirm it with independent laboratory analysis.
Condition of the Problem - Removal is not always your best option, especially if the asbestos is not a source of airborne fibers.

A truck with a HEPA vacuum will be used to suck out all of the insulation in the attic. The suction hose is brought into the attic from any window or door which is the closest to the attic hatch and In the house, our technicians put up an enclosure in the room where the attic hatch is to ensure no cross contamination. The crew change into protective clothing behind the enclosure and then enter the attic to use the suction hose to remove the asbestos containing vermiculite. Negative pressure will be created in the attic and room to ensure no cross contamination.
